NETWORK VALIDATIONS

NUMEROUS RPI CYBER SOLUTIONS PERSONNEL HAVE MET ALL THE CRITERIA TO BE APPOINTED AS USMC VALIDATORS.

This appointment by the Marine Corps Authorizing Official (AO) allows RPI staff to act as independent validators and trusted agents supporting the AO.

As defined in MCBUL 5239 “Validation is a critical step within the Certification and Accreditation (now Authorization and Accreditation) process and the product lifestyle… The Validator is responsible for providing an independent review of compliance with applicable information assurance controls (IAC) for information systems/applications/programs of record residing within the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN)…”

THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE APPOINTED AS A USMC VALIDATOR INCLUDES: 

  • AO designated professional certification requirements (DoD 8570/8140)

  • In-depth understanding of computer security, military system specifications, and Department of the Navy (DoN) & Department of Defense (DoD) Cybersecurity policies

  • Complete the required USMC Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Marine Corps Certification and Accreditation Support Tool (MCCAST) specific training

  • Pass a written exam

  • Provide references attesting to their knowledge, abilities, and integrity

  • Periodic refresher courses and recertification

  • Peer and AO review of your work to verify the quality of your validations
